Neurologist Dr. Kate Spangler specializes in movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease, tremors, dystonia, tics, Huntington disease and ataxia.  




“Neurology encompasses diseases of the brain, spinal cord, muscles and nerves,” Dr. Spangler said.

Dr. Spangler specializes in movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease, tremors, dystonia, tics, Huntington disease and ataxia. She has participated in clinical research for treating Parkinson’s disease and is trained in using deep brain stimulation techniques. She also has special training in the use of BOTOX® to treat facial spasms, spasticity, dystonia and other movement disorders.

She became interested in neurology at an early age. Her father had Parkinson’s disease. “I know how neurological disease can affect how you live,” she said. “It can be devastating for both the patients and their families. I like being an advocate for my patients.”

A Wausau native, Dr. Spangler feels fortunate to practice medicine at Marshfield Clinic Health System, an institution she’s known and respected her whole life. Dr. Spangler is married and has two daughters. She loves gardening and being outdoors, and is an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan. 

Dr. Spangler earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she completed her Neurology Residency and Movement Disorder Fellowship. She has been an assistant professor there since 2010.
