Marshfield Clinic Research Institute
Marshfield Clinic Research Institute (MCRI) was established in 1959. Housed primarily in the Lawton Center and the Melvin R. Laird Center, MCRI scientists conduct clinical research, rural and agricultural health and safety research, and work in human genetics, epidemiology and biomedical informatics.
Medical Education
With the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Marshfield Clinic provides clinical and educational experiences for students.
Our residency programs include internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, surgery, transitional year and pharmacy. We also offer fellowships in palliative care, non-operative spine and post-doctoral psychology.
Laird Center for Medical Research
The Laird Center for Medical Research, named after health care advocate, former statesman and U.S. Secretary of Defense, Melvin Laird, is a world-class medical research and education facility that houses Marshfield Clinic Research Institute on the campus of Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI.
Since 1997, the Laird Center for Medical Research has enhanced Marshfield Clinic’s ability to:
- Discover and share knowledge
- Provide local laboratory services
- Advance academic medicine through education
- Achieve greater integration of medical research and clinical practice
- Improve patient care and protect public health
- Honor Melvin R. Laird's accomplishments in health care, medical research and education
