Dr. Wadad Ailabouni was always drawn to the intellectual aspect of practicing medicine, and that's why she chose nephrology.

"The kidney is a smart organ that organizes different things in the body, like blood pressure and electrolytes. Without the kidney most things don't function," she said. "So there's never a dull moment in nephrology."

Dr. Ailabouni treats conditions like chronic kidney disease, high blood pressure and end-stage kidney disease. In addition to loving her chosen field of nephrology, she is passionate about patients.

"Patients are why I became a doctor. I want them to feel they are safe when they come to me and they can trust my advice," she said. "I really care about them, and I take a holistic approach to their care."

Dr. Ailabouni earned her medical degree from University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She also completed a fellowship in nephrology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

In her free time, Dr. Ailabouni enjoys traveling, reading and theatre.
