Adam Ryan, M.D., was interested in finding a career that matched his love of science with his desire to help people and develop relationships with his neighbors and community in a meaningful way. Plus, OB-GYN gave him the opportunity to have a surgery component and time with patients.
“After I got to deliver a couple of babies in medical school, there was no looking back for me," he said. “That moment when new parents get to see their baby for the first time is pure magic."
Dr. Ryan provides pregnancy care as an obstetrician but also has a focus on gynecological needs, treating conditions like menstrual issues, pelvic pain, endometriosis, infertility, pelvic prolapse, STIs, abnormal pap smears, contraception care and much more.
“I always strive to get to know my patients and really listen to their stories because this helps me to best tailor my approach to their care," Dr. Ryan said. “I also keep learning and stay up to date, so my patients receive care consistent with the latest research and knowledge."
In his practice, Dr. Ryan enjoys bringing babies into the world and he finds satisfaction with seeing patients post operations to hear about how much a procedure has benefited their life.
“I want my patients to say that I listen and show true compassion," he said. “Also, that I was both knowledgeable and displayed confidence but also kindness and humility."
Dr. Ryan loves the Iron Mountain and Kingsford community, along with the Upper Peninsula. Outside of his practice, he loves to read, hike, go camping, ride mountain bike, and has “dabbled" with writing and playing guitar.
