A nurse practitioner in orthopedic trauma surgery

As a nurse practitioner in orthopedics, Bobby Tran appreciates his opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives.

"Orthopedics is a unique specialty, in that you can restore someone’s ability to function and resume the activities they love," he said. "Studying the human body is fascinating; everyone’s anatomy is different in its own way."

Tran views his work as a way to help fulfill people’s hopes for a more active future. He said that his approach to treatment involves empathy, respect and a listening ear. "I try to treat every patient as though they were a family member and make every attempt to understand what they’re going through," he said.

Born and raised in Marshfield, Tran recalled that he was delivered by a Marshfield Clinic doctor at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital. "I’m very pleased to have this chance to serve and give back to the community that I know so well," he said. He credits his mother, an immigrant from Vietnam who aspired to being a nurse, with inspiring his career choice.

Tran earned his graduate degree as a family nurse practitioner at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
