A nurse practitioner in family medicine
Christine Hines has the town of Cumberland in her DNA. She was born and raised in Cumberland and now works as a family medicine nurse practitioner at Marshfield Clinic Cumberland Center.
"My husband’s family is here, and my family is here in Cumberland. We grew up here. We love being on the lake," Christine said. "I also really wanted to give back to my community, and that’s why I wanted to practice here."
Christine earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from UW-Eau Claire. She entered medicine because she wanted to help people and, as a child, was cared for by nurse practitioners.
"Whenever I was seen by a nurse practitioner as a kid, I thought their jobs seemed so interesting, and I knew that was what I wanted to do," Christine said.
One of her priorities as a provider is to educate patients about their health.
"I want my patients to be active participants in their health," Christine said. "I want them to lead happy, healthy lives, and the best way for that to happen is for patients to really take ownership of their health."
To patients, Christine strives to be kind, welcoming and understanding. While she enjoys all aspects of her practice, she especially likes working with children.
"I like working with kids because they are resilient and brave," Christine said. "They’re tough and funny and just a lot of fun to work with."
When she is not working, Christine enjoys spending time on the water, running, sewing and being with her family. She is married with five children.
