Growing up in Marshfield, Dr. Christopher Adler was familiar with Marshfield Clinic Health System. Although he did not know his future career in high school, he was able to observe a bypass surgery when he was only about 17. "It was a very interesting experience," Dr. Adler said. "It opened the health care focus."
Despite a surgery sparking his initial interest in medicine, Dr. Adler wanted more of an opportunity to interact with his patients. "I really enjoyed getting to know the patients I cared for during my training, and the opportunity for building strong relationships," he said. As an internal medicine physician, he cares for adult patients who may have complex conditions. He finds it rewarding to help his patients work through their health concerns.
Dr. Adler discusses options with his patients to help find the best treatment for their health and intended quality of life. He believes in letting patients feel and be in-charge of their care while providing them the resources and guidance they need for it. He believes that this is the cornerstone to patient-physician relationships, especially for the long term.
Dr. Adler earned his medical degree from University of Wisconsin – School of Medicine & Public Health in Madison. In medical school, he was part of the Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine (WARM) program, and had a vast majority of his clinical rotations in Marshfield. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Marshfield Clinic Health System, where he was a chief resident during his final year.
"Hailing from Marshfield, I have always wanted to remain in the area," he said. "Being able to return to my community and practice here is quite fulfilling."
Outside of his practice, Dr. Adler enjoys golfing and outdoor activities like hunting, fishing and hiking. Above all, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
