Cynthia Eckes feels privileged to go to work every day because her true passion is women’s health.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Cynthia pursued her nursing career after working as a military emergency medical technician and medical assistant. During her military service, she also spent time providing health care in labor and delivery.

“That military experience, particularly my time in labor and delivery, sparked my passion for women’s health,” Cynthia said.

Following her time in the military, Cynthia spent several years as a registered nurse in labor and delivery before earning her degree as a family nurse practitioner. In working with women, Cynthia feels she is able to touch entire families.

“Women are often the center of their families,” Cynthia said. “If you can influence a woman’s health positively, she is going to share that health information with her friends and family.”

She feels a connection with her patients, which allows her to provide the best patient care and experience.

“I empathize with women, and, in that way, I’m able to understand what they’re going through and anticipate their needs, questions and worries,” Cynthia said. “I’m excited about going to work every day.”

She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1998 and her master’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2009.

In her free time, Cynthia enjoys water skiing, boating and spending time with her husband and two children, especially at her family’s cabin in northern Wisconsin. She is an avid runner and supporter of her children’s cross country, dance, hockey and track events.
