A strong desire to help people who are sick drew Dawn McCullough toward a career in health care.

“I had practiced in the acute care setting, with the bulk of that practice in critical care," she said. “When transitioning to my current role, pulmonology was a natural progression of my career path after having worked with pulmonologists who specialized in critical care medicine for many years."

She received her associate of science in nursing degree from St. Charles County Community College in St. Peters, Missouri and her Bachelor of Science in nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She received her Master of Science in nursing degree from Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and is a board-certified family nurse practitioner.

McCullough sees patients for chronic lung diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung diseases such as sarcoidosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary infections, pulmonary nodules and lung masses.

She will collaborate as needed with other specialties, such as cardiology, surgery and rheumatology, for a multidisciplinary approach to providing care.

“I want my patients to live as full and healthy of a life as possible so they can enjoy the things that are important to them," she said.

McCullough is married and they have two hunting dogs, a cat and live on a farm. They enjoy road trips and seeing what Wisconsin offers for outdoor fun and activities. She enjoys kayaking, swimming, gardening, canning and making jelly.
