Emily Bartig, PA-C

Emily Bartig, a certified physician assistant, works with surgeons to treat patients who have conditions impacting their gallbladder, colon/bowel, breast, skin, thyroid, hernias and wound care.

Working in general surgery, Bartig is a part of the comprehensive management of her patients' care. She assists in the operating room and helps with follow-ups seeing patients in the clinic and hospital. “There is a lot of variety in patients, conditions and body systems that we see and treat," she said. “I get the opportunity to work with a team to identify and address each patient's individual concerns and help make a tangible difference in their lives."

Communication and understanding are key to the shared decision-making process. Bartig works closely with patients, taking time to get to know them and understand their concerns and questions. She provides information and education to help her patients know what they can expect every step of the way during their care.

“I grew up going to Marshfield Clinic Health System for my own care, and I had the opportunity to complete my clinical rotations through the system," Bartig said.

She earned her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with clinical partners Gundersen Medical Foundation, Marshfield Clinic Health System and Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology from UW-La Crosse.

While not at work, she enjoys enjoying the outdoors by going on walks, playing volleyball and going kayaking. She also enjoys reading and baking.
