Emily Greenwood, D.N.P., is a board-certified nurse practitioner who offers acute care expertise for patients in the hospital. This can mean managing infections, chronic conditions, injuries and post-surgery care.
“Hospitalization can be overwhelming," Greenwood said. “It's deeply rewarding to help patients navigate this period with dignity, understanding and support."
She said this passion is inspired by her grandmother, a nurse of 60 years.
“I've wanted to enter health care and help others ever since I can remember. Furthering my education to become a nurse practitioner felt like the right next step so I could continue my journey helping others," she said.
Greenwood said she takes great pride in encouraging patients to be active partners in their care. She strives to offer clear and compassionate education to her patients and their families. This helps ensure they understand the diagnosis, treatment plan and follow-up needs.
“It's more than just addressing a patient's medical needs. I want to contribute meaningfully to their recovery and overall wellbeing," she said. “If they leave the hospital in a better physical and emotional state, then I feel like I've succeeded."
In her spare time, Greenwood prefers to be outdoors. She spends that time with her husband, kids and pets. They enjoy biking, camping and horseback riding.
