Hafiz Khan, M.D. is an interventional cardiologist who treats many conditions related to the heart. While things like heart attack, bad heart valves, heart failure and chest pain are serious health issues, Dr. Khan feels pride after helping people get through them.
“The vital thing that compelled me (to this profession) was looking at the instant results, complete relief and utmost satisfaction of patients both with myocardial infarction and severe valvular heart disease after minimally-invasive timely intervention," Dr. Khan said.
Patient interaction is Dr. Khan's favorite part of the profession. He believes establishing patient-doctor relationships by good communication works hand-in-hand with the science of medicine.
“I believe that the most important element of patient care is to understand the root cause of patient symptoms and approach them with evidence-based medicine," said Dr. Khan. “My philosophy is to get to know my patients and their illnesses, and then figure out how I can make their lives better and longer."
In his spare time, Dr. Khan likes to read. He starts and ends each day with a book, saying the habit keeps his mind and knowledge fresh.
