Jacob Diestelmann, PhD

Dr. Jacob Diestelmann has always felt called to help people.

"Whether it's through healing, growth, change or addressing an unmet need, I really appreciate the opportunity to help people improve their lives," he said.

Dr. Diestelmann works with adult patients as well as older adolescents. He treats a wide variety of conditions and also works closely with Marshfield Clinic Health System's primary care team to provide immediate patient consultation, assessment and brief interventions in a format that best meets patients in need right where they are.

He said the most enjoyable part of his practice is being able to collaborate with his patients and work together to improve their mental health and overall well-being.

"I really view what I do as a partnership with my patients," he said.

Dr. Diestelmann earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Also at Madison he earned a master's degree from the Department of Counseling Psychology and a doctorate from the same program. He completed an internship at Syracuse VA Medical Center and a fellowship at Marshfield Clinic Health System.

This training backdrop is a source of pride and an important aspect of Dr. Diestelmann's professional worldview. He is a product of the Wisconsin Idea that seeks to best serve the people of Wisconsin, particularly central and rural Wisconsin patients.

In his free time, Dr. Diestelmann enjoys watching Badgers football and basketball as well as the Brewers and Packers. He also enjoys spending time with his family, the outdoors, and he considers himself a "foodie."
