As an advanced practice nurse practitioner, Jenell Bushong helps her patients, who often have debilitating diseases, live their lives to the fullest.

She treats patients for advanced diseases of the bowel and gastrointestinal tract such as Crohn’s Disease, Colitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Hepatitis, chronic constipation or diarrhea, and diseases of the liver or pancreas.

Choosing to be a nurse practitioner was an easy decision for Jenell, who wanted to directly plan and oversee care for her patients. A large part of her practice is education — that means collaborating not just with her patients, but with their families too.

“Every patient, every plan of care is unique. Developing their plan of care can be interesting and challenging,” she said.

Jenell enjoys providing care at Marshfield Clinic Health System because she can offer advanced, research-based treatments.

Jenell grew up in the Wausau area. She and her husband Aaron, a dentist, enjoy raising their three children, Breanne, Jack and Emily, close to family and the wonders of central Wisconsin’s outdoors. The family enjoys camping as well as spending time with family and friends. Jenell also likes to read and garden.

Jenell is a board-certified adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner. She received her nursing degree from Marian University, her master’s degree in nursing and her advanced practice nurse practitioner certification from Marquette University.
