A family history of heart disease grabbed Nurse Practitioner Jessica Takach's curiosity at an early age.

“My family history with cardiac issues is pretty extensive so since a young age I started to hear about heart attacks and bypass surgeries and heart failure. It intrigued me trying to find out why my family was sick," Takach said. “As I got older and was looking for a career path, cardiology is what I've always been drawn to."

As a nurse practitioner in Cardiology, Takach treats patients with shortness of breath, chest pain, syncope, heart palpitations, weight gain/swelling – all the basic cardiology symptoms. She is passionate about caring for heart failure patients.

“Heart failure is definitely a huge passion of mine, even caring for the more advanced heart failure patients. I really enjoy that population," she said. “Cardiology is what I've done my whole nurse practitioner career and it is near and dear to me."

Takach enjoys the challenge of working in cardiology and helping patients understand their diagnoses.

“I've done everything that I could possibly do to see different rotations as far as different specialties and sub-specialties. As a new nurse and intern I was able to rotate through the different hospital units. Just seeing all the different areas – neurology, nephrology, ortho, critical care, emergency medicine – cardiology is just always been what I've been drawn back to."

In her free time, Takach and her husband enjoy watching their daughter play sports, spending time in the woods hunting, and fishing.
