Dr. Jian Khamo-Soskos has traveled the world but is happy to have settled in Marshfield, where she is a board-certified physician specializing in the combined practice of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, or Med-Peds.

She originally planned to practice in pediatrics, where much of her training was completed.

“The feelings of a child who is in pain at the time of illness, who then hugs you and says ‘thanks for making me better,’ cannot be matched in any other profession,” she said.

But when she was exposed to family medicine in Michigan, she also felt the gratitude from adults.

Dr. Khamo-Soskos (pronounced cameoh- SOS-kose) earned her medical degree in the Middle East. She then spent several years in medical training in the United Kingdom, where she is a citizen, before coming to the United States. She completed her four-year Med-Peds residency at Marshfield Clinic and the former Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Her husband, Athanasios Soskos, M.D., is a hospitalist at Marshfield Medical Center (hospital).

“We wanted to stay in the Midwest, partly to be close to my family in Michigan,” she said. “We also felt comfortable with the people we’ve met and we don’t feel like strangers. People here are pleasant and down-to-earth.”
