A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Julie Kaprelian offers behavioral health assessment and interventions such as coping with hospitalization or a new medical diagnosis for children, adolescents and their families at our Marshfield Children’s Hospital.
“It’s difficult to have to cope with a medical illness or injury,” she said. “Pediatric psychology tries to help kids maintain normalcy in their lives despite the medical challenges. Other children and adolescents can run into problems with sadness, worries or behavior just with the stresses of everyday life that may impact their physical health.”
A strong multidisciplinary team approach attracted Dr. Kaprelian to Marshfield Clinic Health System. “I enjoy collaborating with other providers and medical staff to ensure that our patients’ physical and behavioral health care needs are being met.”
Dr. Kaprelian sees patients at Marshfield Children’s Hospital for brief assessments and interventions and maintains an outpatient practice in Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.
After receiving her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and completing an internship at Denver Health Medical Center, Dr. Kaprelian was eager to return to Wisconsin. She completed her pediatric psychology fellowship at Marshfield Clinic Health System before being hired as a staff psychologist. “The Health System offers a great balance of career and community,” she said.
Dr. Kaprelian and her husband, John, live in Marshfield with their children. Her outside interests include spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors - particularly downhill skiing - and traveling.
