It was providing care in the neonatal intensive care unit that sparked Kaitlyn Rychlowski's interest in the mental health field.

“I quickly recognized the significant risk for postpartum depression, anxiety and birth trauma in NICU parents," she said. “I found there were significant wait list periods before these parents could be seen for psychiatric care, which fueled me to go back to school to pursue my nurse practitioner education and fill this urgent need."

Kaitlyn sees patients with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, like postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety and postpartum OCD. She also cares for patients with anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder and many other diagnoses. In her approach to care, Kaitlyn prioritizes partnership with her patients.

“I care for patients through a holistic perspective. I engage with patients to form a trusting therapeutic alliance," she said. “Ultimately, I place patients at the center of their care and partner to make decisions together."

Kaitlyn earned her undergraduate nursing degree from UW-Oshkosh and her Master of Science in Nursing through Frontier Nursing University based in rural Kentucky. She also has advanced training and special certification in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International.

In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys yoga, crafting, traveling, coffee shops and anything to do with Disney. Kaitlyn's husband is also in the medical field, and one of the things they most enjoy is watching motocross races together.
