Kelly Jonas, cardiology and acute care nurse practitioner, strives to involve her patients as much as possible in their care. Her goal is to help them understand their medical conditions and recommendations for their desired outcome.
“I enjoy breaking down and explaining everything so the patient not only understands, but feels positive and confident about their part in their care," Jonas said.
In her practice, she most enjoys putting pieces of the puzzle together to diagnose acute illnesses and develop a plan to best treat that illness.
She sees patients for conditions ranging from heart palpitations to significant coronary disease with heart failure, including chest pain, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular disease and dyspnea.
Jonas also wants to make a positive difference in patients' outcomes. That's the reason she entered health care.
“My mom spent a lot of time in hospitals and how she felt and how she improved had a lot to do with how good her care team was," she said. “I wanted to be part of a team that did that."
Outside of health care, Jonas enjoys reading, traveling, gardening and going to the beach.
