Kristie Guite, MD

Dr. Kristie Guite follows a humanistic approach to patient care – “treating everyone like I would want myself or a family member to be treated.”

As a radiologist with a breast imaging subspecialty, Dr. Guite (rhymes with kite), focuses on the diagnostic imaging and diagnosis of breast diseases and conditions. This includes mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI and breast procedures such as biopsies.

She became interested in this subspecialty while training with Marshfield Medical Center’s OB/GYN Dr. Greg Tyler and his team of sonographers. “I decided breast imaging would best fulfill both my radiology and women’s health interests.”

Growing up in Wausau, her dream was to come home to practice medicine after finishing her residency and fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also was attracted to this area because “The Clinic allows me to provide subspecialized breast imaging care to patients in smaller communities.” In addition to Marshfield Medical Center, Dr. Guite does outreach at Minocqua Center.

She feels passionate about reducing unnecessary radiation exposure in mammography screening. Her research on this topic was published, and she presented a scientific paper and gave a press conference on reducing radiation exposure at the Radiological Society of North America annual meeting.

She lives in Rib Mountain with her husband, Christopher, an anesthesiologist who is also a Wausau native. She looks forward to traveling more now, and enjoys playing golf, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
