Marie Brick is a Family Nurse Practitioner who says she knew at a very young age that she wanted to be in medicine because she enjoyed science and helping people. After spending years in the health care field, she found her niche.

“Initially, I fell in love with pediatrics," said Brick. “But with experience I began to see how parents and family make up the whole picture. I didn't want to stop caring for my patients just because they reached a certain age. So, my interest in caring for people on the entire age spectrum came into clear focus."

Brick now helps patients with a variety of acute care issues like sinus and ear infections, along with chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes and basic mental health concerns. When helping with those conditions, communication is always on her mind.

“I enjoy the engagement with patients and families, which involves really listening, understanding their concerns and needs, and providing support and education," said Brick. “Shared decision-making is a key point in successful management of a patient's health."

When she's not in the clinic, Brick enjoys spending time with her husband and pets. She says she has worked with dog rescues in the past and once had a “pack" of 6 dogs and 3 cats. She also spends time volunteering at the Wausau Free Clinic.
