Mark Beck, PA-C

Mark Beck knew he enjoyed the procedural and hands-on patient care, which led him to pursue a surgical specialty. He was fortunate to start his physician assistant career and grow through a neurosurgery position with Marshfield Clinic Health System.

“I continued to enjoy practicing neurosurgery, but always enjoyed rounding on pediatric patients and working with the pediatric team. When an opportunity to practice with the pediatric surgery team presented, I knew I wanted to pursue this," Beck said. “Pediatrics and surgical care is something I have enjoyed in the past."

He received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He's been with the Health System since 2014.

“I was born in Marshfield, but my family only resided in the area until I was three years old," he said. “We had several family friends in Marshfield and that was a big draw back to the area when I completed P.A. school."

He sees pediatric patients for general surgery, including gastrostomy tube (G-tube) care and placements, abscesses, pilonidal disease, ileocecal tubes, appendicitis, gall bladder disease and post-operative care.

Beck works to provide patients and their families with explanations and options for their care that they understand and feel comfortable and confident with.

“I hope they have experiences where they felt they received a high level of care with a provider who is passionate about the care they provide," he said.

Outside of work, Beck enjoys volleyball, snowboarding, family walks and hikes and electronics.

He is married to his wife, Mel, who works as a CRNA at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield and they have a son, Crosby.
