As a general surgeon, Michael Michalske, D.O., takes care of acute and chronic isues by surgically repairing or removing the problem.


“That includes things like fixing hernias and taking out gall bladders and appendixes, more and more often these days through robot-assisted laporascopic techniques,” Dr. Michalske said.

He also sugically removes cancers of various kinds and provides wound care using surgery and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.​

As a young man, Dr. Michalske first became interested in medicine while volunteering in hospice.

“I felt the need to find a way to help people in a very real and life-changing way,” he says. “I like being able to make a difference in someone’s life.” 

Dr. Michalske sees aspects of his faith in his work.

“Surgery can fix things, but you also have to remember to be humble, both to keep learning and to appreciate the mysteries of what you don’t know,” Dr. Michalske said.

With a wife and five children, Dr. Michalske values family time. He especially enjoys watching his children develop and grow as individuals.

Dr. Michalske is board certified in surgery. He earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine & Surgery in Missouri. He completed his residency in general surgery at Michigan State University – Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital Medical Center.
