Born and raised in Wausau, Dr. Nicole Giles is excited to be a pediatrician at the same clinic she received care growing up. She takes a preventive approach to your child’s health. She provides well-child visits, treats children when they are sick and manages chronic or ongoing medical conditions.

“I am joining the pediatrics practice that I went to when I was a kid, which I think says something about the organization. It is somewhere my parents trusted to bring me to as a child,” she said. Dr. Giles was the oldest of four growing up.

Dr. Giles went to medical school at Des Moines University in Iowa, completed her pediatric residency at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio and is board-certified.

Now as a parent herself, Giles brings her own experiences as a mother to every appointment with the families she provides care to.

“I have learned so much from being a parent that I have been able to bring into my practice,” Dr. Giles said. “By sharing my experiences, I’m able to relate to parents and their concerns in a more meaningful way which I think results in better patient care.”

Dr. Giles believes promoting a healthy lifestyle is important as a pediatrician because it encourages life-long health.

“I like to encourage a variety of healthy choices at a young age – playing outside, reading books, limiting screen time and increasing fruits and vegetables – to help establish a foundation for healthy living,” Dr. Giles said.

She and her husband, who started dating when they went to high school together in Wausau, enjoy the outdoors and sharing that with their daughter. They especially enjoy running, hiking with their dog, snow sports and fishing.
