Rachael Sternweis is a certified family nurse practitioner who sees patients of all ages, from children to adults, addressing concerns such as coughs, ear infections, strep throat and fevers, as well as managing chronic adult conditions including hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and thyroid conditions.
Her mother is a veterinarian, and this sparked her interest in medicine at a young age. As a teenager, she volunteered at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield in the pediatric unit, which furthered her desire to study medicine and treat patients.
“I grew up in the central Wisconsin area, and I saw a nurse practitioner as my primary care provider,” Rachael said. “I always knew that I wanted to return home to take care of those who helped shape the individual I am today.”
She believes in taking a patient-centered approach to care.
“I communicate with them to understand how we can meet their needs, goals and accomplish successful outcomes together," Rachael said. “I want to be a trusted and accessible resource to my patients and work together as a team, celebrating triumphs and working through challenges together."
She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and her post-master's certificate as a family nurse practitioner from Bellin College in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Rachael lives with her husband, daughter, their three dogs, horse and miniature donkey. She enjoys staying active, being outside during the summer and traveling. Sternweis enjoys baking and is known for her famous chocolate chip cookies.
