Dr. Rashid Ali believes there is no better feeling than helping someone feel better and figuring out a mystery (illness) at the same time.

“Besides helping people, I was interested in the field of biology and the miracle that is the human body and how it functions," he said. He pursued both pulmonary and critical care medicine because they were interesting and challenging to him.

He received his medical degree from the University of Khartoum Faculty of Medicine in Sudan. He completed an internal medicine residency at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine from Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois and a fellowship in critical care medicine from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. He is board-certified in critical care, pulmonary and internal medicine.

He sees patients for acute and chronic lung conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease and lung cancer. He also sees and treats critical illnesses like sepsis and respiratory and cardiac failure. He has expertise in endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), bronchoscopy and thoracentesis.

“Medicine is all about listening carefully to your patients and understanding that their values are an integral part of how to address their concerns," he said. “Communication is the key."

He's passionate about creating a rapport with his patients and wants them to know he genuinely cares about their health and wellbeing.

Outside of work, Dr. Ali enjoys playing soccer, spending time with his family and friends and watching sports and movies.
