Dr. Samer Kanaan is passionate about taking care of people like they are his own family.

He's equally passionate about the science behind the medicine and the technology that is available to treat patients.

“I love caring for people and I love the science," Dr. Kanaan said. “I love to operate and the technology is incredible."

As a thoracic surgeon, Dr. Kanaan specializes in lung cancer surgery. He is ardent about robotic minimally invasive surgery and the impacts it can have on patients.

“My patient care philosophy is taking care of patients the way in which you would want your own family cared for," Dr. Kanaan said.

Dr. Kanaan received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency in general surgery at Northwestern and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at University Southern California, and a fellowship at Harvard's Brigham Women's Hospital in thoracic oncology and minimally invasive thoracic surgery.
