Dr. Siddhartha Kattamanchi, nephrologist at Marshfield Medical Center, grew up watching his parents practice medicine and take care of patients at their hospital in India. This was the main driver for him to become a doctor.

“I really liked nephrology from the beginning because you have to think a lot and formulate a plan for your patients,” he said. “The process of thinking logically and coming to a conclusion was fun and challenging.”

Dr. Kattamanchi sees patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension, kidney stones, electrolyte abnormalities and more.

Understanding his patients and their needs is a focus for Dr. Kattamanchi.

“Smiling or just giving some reassurance and moral support is an important part of someone’s care,” he said. “Aside from just treating an illness, I focus on making my patients stronger mentally by supporting them.”

After receiving his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College in India, Dr. Kattamanchi completed his residency at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, formerly known as St. Joseph’s Hospital. He completed his fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York before returning to the Marshfield area.

“I like the way things are in this health system, and the culture we have here,” he said.

Outside of work, Dr. Kattamanchi likes sports and yoga. He played badminton for his university, and loves watching soccer and playing tennis. His wife also is a physician.

“She’s my backbone and support system,” he said.
