What’s the difference between an optometrist and an ophthalmologist?
Optometrists are doctors of optometry who provide exams, diagnose common vision problems (like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism), and prescribe glasses and contacts.
Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who diagnose and treat diseases of the eye and perform surgical procedures (e.g., cataracts, glaucoma).
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed for most routine exams. If specialty care or surgery is needed, we’ll arrange that for you.
How soon can I be seen?
Many clinics offer same-day or next-day appointments. Check real-time availability when you book online.
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans and can help verify your benefits, HSA/FSA dollars are typically eligible for exams, glasses and contact lenses.
When should kids get eye exams?
We offer child-friendly appointments during preschool and school age years, and whenever there are concerns like squinting, frequent headaches or reading difficulties.
What are urgent symptoms and what should I do?
Symptoms such as sudden vision loss, a new curtain or shadow in vision, flashes of light, severe eye pain or eye injury are urgent symptoms and you should seek immediate care. If it’s an emergency, call 911.
