Advanced, minimally invasive options

Depending on your diagnosis, your urologist may recommend one or more of the following:

  • Robotic-assisted prostatectomy (da Vinci®): Offers precision and may enable shorter hospital stays, less pain, lower infection risk, less blood loss, smaller scars and faster recovery.
  • Laparoscopic kidney & prostate surgery: Small incisions for reduced pain and quicker return to normal activity; kidney-sparing approaches for small tumors when appropriate.
  • Photo-selective Vaporization of the Prostate (PVP): Laser treatment that can rapidly relieve urinary symptoms of BPH and improve urine flow.
  • Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL): Breaks kidney stones into passable particles without an incision.
  • Cryotherapy: A minimally invasive option to freeze and destroy prostate cancer cells in select cases.
  • Cystoscopy: In-office visualization of the bladder to evaluate infections, stones, scarring, narrowing and tumors.
  • Trans-Urethral Microwave Therapy (TUMT): Office-based therapy to reduce obstructing prostate tissue.
  • Brachytherapy (radiation seed implantation): Targeted radiation placed within the prostate for some cancer cases.
  • Urodynamic testing: A series of studies that show how your bladder and urethra function to guide treatment choices.

Frequently asked questions

What symptoms should prompt a urology visit?

Trouble urinating, weak stream, urgency, frequent nighttime urination, blood in urine, pain in the flank or lower abdomen, recurrent infections, leakage, kidney stone symptoms, or concerns about fertility or prostate health. (Testing and treatments vary by diagnosis.)

Are minimally invasive options available?

Yes. Many conditions—including BPH, kidney stones and select cancers—have minimally invasive treatments that can reduce pain, shorten hospital stays and speed recovery. Your urologist will explain if you’re a candidate.

What is a cystoscopy, and why might I need one?

It’s an in-office procedure using a thin, lighted scope to look inside your bladder. It helps evaluate infections, stones, scarring or narrowing, and bladder tumors.

How are kidney stones treated?

Many stones pass on their own; when they don’t—or symptoms persist—options like ESWL (shock wave lithotripsy) or other techniques can help.

What should I know about vasectomy?

It’s a simple outpatient procedure under local anesthesia and is intended as a permanent form of birth control. Reversal options exist but aren’t guaranteed.

Do you treat pediatric urology conditions?

Yes. We offer surgical and nonsurgical management for infants, children and teens, with coordination across pediatric specialties when needed.

Will my exact services be available at my nearest clinic?

Some services vary by location. Confirm availability when scheduling.
