After an experience in her residency working with the children of active duty military personnel, Dr. Alison Jones was inspired to pursue a career in child psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Jones grew up active in sports and saw the need for mental health services for young people and young athletes.

Her interests in sports medicine include athletes with difficulty recovering from concussion or other sports related injuries. She also has an interest in seeing patients with eating disorders and other psychiatric conditions. Dr. Jones sees young children, adolescents and some young adults in her current practice. She also works with some older adult patients who consider themselves serious athletes.

In her approach to care, Dr. Jones strives to get to know her patients.

“I want to understand my patients from the ground up, their family, and all the dynamics that go into their mental health,” Dr. Jones said. “I enjoy that process of getting to know my patients.”

Dr. Jones earned her medical degree and completed a residency in psychiatry at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Illinois. She completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at University of Colorado - Affiliated Hospitals. She is board-certified in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry.

When she’s not working, Dr. Jones enjoys playing hockey, hiking, skiing and being outdoors.
