Brian DeWitt entered the field of field of medicine because he had a strong desire to help people and to improve their quality of life.

“After a few years of working in family practice, I was looking forward to getting into a more specialized role," said DeWitt. “I had sleep medicine experience from working as a respiratory therapist. That background made the transition into sleep medicine a natural and easier next step in my career."

DeWitt received his associate of science in nursing degree from Lake Superior College in Duluth, Minnesota and associate degree in respiratory care from the University of Minnesota-Crookston. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Minnesota State University-Moorhead. He received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

He sees patients for sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs, hypersomnia and narcolepsy.

He truly enjoys getting to know his patients and helping them manage any problems they may have.

“My most important job is to be an educator," DeWitt said. “I need to be able to help you understand the different treatment options and help determine what will work best for you."

He also wants his patients to feel comfortable asking questions so they can be as informed as possible about their health care and comfortable letting him know if something isn't working.

Outside of work, DeWitt enjoys hiking, visiting state parks, kayaking, snowshoeing and biking.
