Christina Kurkowski, NP

A nurse practitioner in orthopedic surgery

Nurse practitioner Tina Kurkowski treats a wide variety of conditions affecting muscles and bones, including sports injuries like ankle sprains, knee pain and shoulder pain. She also assists in total joint replacement surgeries.

"I help people with orthopedic conditions by providing non-surgical treatments and participating in surgeries," she says.

An experienced nurse, Tina appreciates having her current position. "Professionally, my first love is orthopedics and my second love is the operating room," she explains. "I get to do plenty of both and be involved in helping people get better. One of the satisfying things about working with orthopedic patients is that they usually do get better after their treatment or surgery. You can see real improvements in the quality of their lives." She is particularly interested in treating patients with sports injuries, osteoporosis and arthritis. "Helping people understand their diagnosis and treatment plan and discussing options to achieve the best outcome makes my work rewarding."

Tina travels frequently as a professional speaker and educator on the subject of orthopedics.

Tina is board-certified as an adult nurse practitioner, orthopedic nurse practitioner, orthopedic nurse and operating room nurse. She received her nursing degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
