Dr. Courtney Bork, family medicine physician, has always had an interest in health care and science. She took an EMT course and worked as a volunteer EMT, but knew she wanted to do more for patients.

“I wanted to help patients medically, but also do more in terms of prevention and building relationships," she said. “That's why I became interested in medicine."

In medical school, she enjoyed parts of every specialty and had an appreciation for relationship building with patients over time, drawing her to family medicine.

Dr. Bork completed her medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and her residency at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She is board certified in family medicine.

She provides care for patients of all ages for routine preventive exams, common illnesses and injuries and management of chronic conditions like high blood pressure. She also has a special interest in women's health care, including IUD and Nexplanon procedures.

Prior to joining Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake, she was practicing out of state, but wanted to move back closer to home.

“In medical school, I was a WARM student with the rural medicine program. I rotated here as a medical student and enjoyed the environment, patients, staff and other providers and loved being here," she said.

Her goal is to make sure her patients feel comfortable when meeting with her.

“I want to build a relationship so that my patients are comfortable sharing what's going on in their lives," she said.

She also encourages shared decision making.

“I think it's really important to empower patients to make decisions about their own health care," she said. “I can provide the pros and cons of care and treatment options, and my patients can help figure out what is the best option for them in the context of their whole life."

Outside of work, Dr. Bork enjoys baking, hiking, reading and spending time with family and friends.
