Dr. Dan Gavrila is an interventional cardiologist experienced in diagnosing and treating blocked blood vessels of the heart and elsewhere.

He trained at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, one of the nation’s most prestigious teaching institutions for cardiology.

Dr. Gavrila’s skills cover both the analytical facets of internal medicine and the more immediately telling procedural nature of interventional cardiology. “This combination of both aspects of medicine is appealing to me,” he says, explaining that he can help people achieve changes over time, as well as do procedures that can have immediate and dramatic positive effects.

Married with two young children, Dr. Gavrila likes this area because the values are very similar to those where he grew up. He enjoys travel, skiing, scuba diving, and being in the outdoors.

Dr. Gavrila went to medical school at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacology in Bucharest, Romania. He did his internship in internal medicine at Columbia University – St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital in New York. He completed fellowships in research, cardiology, and interventional cardiology at the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City.
