​David Kuphal, emergency medicine physician assistant, sees patients for a variety of emergent medical needs and ailments.​

David Kuphal, emergency medicine physician assistant, was initially attracted to medicine because he saw it as the intersection of science and compassion.

“Health care brought the discipline of science to the patient's bedside, ushered through by the hands and heart of the provider," Kuphal said.

Kuphal attended graduate school at the University of Iowa, Department of Pharmacology in Iowa City, Iowa. He later continued his graduate studies and received his physician assistant degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.

As an emergency medicine provider, Kuphal appreciates the variety in his day.

“It's enjoyable as it involves all ages and problems," he said. “Practicing emergency medicine demands a wide breadth of knowledge."

Kuphal believes in providing care to the best of his abilities in the emergency department and helping patients get to the best, definitive care possible.
