Dr. David Schifeling has been treating
cancer patients since 1988 and over the
years his passion for helping patients has
not wavered or diminished. He still treats
every patient with the gentle and thoughtful
manner in a personal way that provides
comfort during difficult, uncertain days.

“I treat patients as part of families,” he
explains. “Each cancer patient is unique
with their own story and their own personal
concerns that need to be addressed.”

A fixture of the highly regarded Marshfield
Clinic Cancer Care team, Dr. Schifeling is
transitioning his full time attention in 2013 to palliative care where his years of experience and expertise will ease the suffering of terminally ill patients in western Wisconsin.

“I am committed to facilitating a peaceful passage for patients and to help bring closure to families,” he said. “I can provide additional support to limit suffering and improve the quality of life for those with a life limiting illness.”

Educated at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, IL, Dr. Schifeling’s medical career has spanned three decades and taken him to Ohio and Tennessee, and Wisconsin. Marshfield Clinic and its national reputation lured him to western Wisconsin, and he has never looked back. “I’m proudest of the reputation, the skill, and the comprehensive care provided at Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care,” he says.

A reputation he helped build, and now in his new role, can take to even greater heights.
