As a general surgery physician assistant, Duane Oftedahl, P.A.-C., evaluates and assists patients that need general surgery procedures including colon surgery, gall bladder surgery, breast cancer surgery, hernia repairs or endoscopy. His practice also includes care for skin cancers.

When providing care for patients, Duane talks to every patient as if they were his friend. He takes time to make sure his patients understand everything about the procedure he recommends.

“I am most passionate about reconstructive procedures on cancer patients,” Duane said. “Taking a large defect and making a great flap that looks like nothing happened has always been the favorite part of my profession.”

Before he was a general surgery physician assistant, Duane served for eight years in the U.S. Army as a combat medic.

“I would see all of my patients in the field and would not get to see the end result, so I decided to do something in medicine where I could help fix my patients completely,” Duane said.

Duane is a board-certified physician assistant with a license to practice in Wisconsin. He is also a part of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

In his spare time, Duane is an avid obstacle course racer and is on the world circuit for Spartan Race.
