As a general neurologist, Dr. Marie Tomasi helps patients with problems involving the brain, spinal cord, nerves and sometimes muscle.

“Neurology combines for me the mystery of a complex system and pleasure of getting to help real people work through complicated disease,” she said.

Her approach includes listening to patients, and working to help them understand and manager their disease.

“Many of the problems I help patients with, such as epilepsy, headaches, peripheral neuropathy, multiple sclerosis and dementia, require long-term care strategies,” she said.

Dr. Tomasi is board certified in neurology and neurophysiology. She earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She completed her residency in neurology at the Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago and was fellowship-trained in neurophysiology at the same facility.

Dr. Tomasi’s fellowship in neurophysiology gives her experience in the methods for evaluating the function of the nerves via nerve conduction studies, electromyography and electroencephalography.

“These let me understand and monitor what is happening with the nervous system,” she said.

Dr. Tomasi enjoys mysteries, cooking and teaching her children to love the Wisconsin outdoors.
