A Physician Assistant in Dermatology

Melissa Koopmann, physician assistant, sees dermatology patients for conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, skin cancer and melanoma checks, cyst removals and more.

Melissa Koopmann, dermatology physician assistant, has held a passion for health care since a young age.

In September 2024, the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) awarded her a Certificate of Added Qualification in Dermatology (CAQ-Derm). The certification recognizes that she has advanced knowledge, skills and experience in dermatology, including passing a dermatology specific board exam.

Working as a dermatology physician assistant has allowed her to create lasting, meaningful relationships with her patients and has provided her the opportunity to care for a range of patients and conditions.

Koopmann sees a variety of dermatology conditions in patients of all ages, including acne, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, alopecia, warts and molluscum, nail disorders, cyst removals and provides skin cancer screenings and melanoma checks.

"I love observing my patients become more confident as they achieve improvement in their skin - it is truly life changing for them," she said.

She also enjoys working with patients who have chronic skin disease, saying it’s wonderful to help those patients and to see the positive changes her care makes.

As a provider, Koopmann says it’s important to spend time listening to her patients and helping them feel comfortable during their visit.
