When to Schedule a Dermatology Visit

  • You notice a new or changing mole (size, color, shape) or a sore that doesn’t heal. 
  • Persistent rashes or itching impacting sleep or daily life.
  • Recurring acne or scarring not improving with over-the-counter products. 
  • Psoriasis or eczema flares that need better control.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book without a referral?

Yes—use our self-referral triage form, save it, complete it, and email to skin@marshfieldclinic.org. We’ll follow up with scheduling help.

What causes most skin issues?

Sun exposure is a major driver of skin cancer and damage. Infections (viral, bacterial, fungal) and immune conditions can also affect your skin.

Do you treat children?

Yes, we treat pediatric concerns including eczema, warts, moles, and acne. (See conditions list above.) 

Is Mohs surgery available

Yes, for appropriate skin cancers. Your dermatologist will discuss whether Mohs is right for you.

Which conditions are most urgent?

Changing or bleeding moles; nonhealing lesions; rapidly growing or painful growths. Please schedule promptly.
