Cardiologist Dr. Michael McGill focuses on early diagnosis and patient education in preventing advanced heart disease.
Dr. Michael McGill joined Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2011.
“I have a special interest in educating patients about preventing heart disease. If we diagnose problems early, we make the greatest impact to prevent advanced heart disease," said Dr. McGill. “My goal is to always provide the best possible care for our patients."
Dr. McGill enjoys living in a small community where he can make a big difference.
“I decided to practice cardiology in Minocqua because we often vacationed in the Northwoods. I felt this area was a great place to raise my family. We are involved in the community through fitness events that raise funds for area bike trails. I feel that it is very important to support healthy lifestyle resources. There is nothing better than a bike ride on our beautiful trails," said Dr. McGill.
Dr. McGill received advanced cardiac imaging training from the University of Wisconsin. He started and directed the nuclear cardiology and CT imagining programs for DuPage Medical Group in Winfield, Illinois. Dr. McGill also was the program director for nuclear cardiology at Central DuPage Hospital. At Howard Young Medical Center, Dr. McGill started the cardiac CT program and the first CZT nuclear imaging program in Wisconsin.
He received his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and nuclear cardiology, at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison. Dr. McGill is board-certified in cardiovascular disease.
He is an avid Cubs, Chicago Bears and Badgers fan who enjoys running, biking and fishing. During the winter, you can find Dr. McGill on the radio as a color analyst for high school basketball or outside ice fishing.
