Dr. Adam Sordahl specializes in Internal Medicine, a passion he discovered after exploring several different specialties while in medical school.

He sees patients with ailments such as hypertension, diabetes and COPD. He also encounters patients with acute issues like back and shoulder pain, shortness of breath and chest pressure. Dr. Sordahl particularly enjoys working with the geriatric population as they get to work together to make decisions in-line with the quality of life they would like to have.

Losing his grandfather to cancer at a young age set Dr. Sordahl on the path to a career he would come to cherish years later.

“Going through that … it created an internal desire in me to want to help," he said. “I began to see medicine as a great avenue to help people achieve their goals and get what they want out of life."

“I never felt a strong connection to anything until I got to internal medicine," he said. “A big part of that is the patient population I get to work with. Seeing people with multiple chronic diseases and having an impact on their health."

“Pain is so impactful in terms of how people are able to function – or not function – and live their lives," he said. “I work together with patients to help them navigate a complex health system to achieve health goals in line with their values, preferences and lifestyles."

Having grown up in a small, rural area himself, Dr. Sordahl has a passion for helping others in rural areas. He is happy to be part of Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake, saying the size of the community is perfect for his family, which includes his wife and their three children. And the facility has an impressive amount of resources for the size of the community it serves.

In his free time, Dr. Sordahl enjoys the outdoors and being on the water, football and family time.
