What Wisconsin Law Requires

Under Wisconsin Act 172, parents, coaches and athletes must:

  • Receive information about concussion signs, symptoms and risks
  • Sign a statement acknowledging they understand the information and agree to report symptoms

Recognize the signs and symptoms

Concussions can happen in any sport. Common signs include:

  • Headache or pressure in the head
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Dizziness or balance problems
  • Confusion or memory issues
  • Sensitivity to light or noise

If symptoms appear, remove the athlete from play immediately and seek medical evaluation.
