Rice Lake Volunteer Opportunities

Collaboration and relationships at the heart of our care

Would you like the rewarding experience of being part of a volunteer team at one of the most advanced hospitals in the region? There are many benefits to becoming a Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake volunteer, including:

  • Enriching your life
  • Learning new skills
  • Staying active
  • Making new friends
  • Making a difference in someone’s life!

Our volunteers contribute their diverse talents in many ways. What special skill do you have to offer? A kind word, a reassuring smile, customer service skills or perhaps clerical or office abilities are all of value. Whatever you can offer, you can do amazing things as a volunteer.

Just a little of your time can make a huge difference in the lives of others. We need you!

Become a hospice volunteer

People of all ages and backgrounds can be hospice volunteers. All have a desire to make a difference in someone else’s life by sharing their time, special talents and compassion with those dealing with a terminal illness.

Hospice volunteers can sit with a patient so the caregiver can go to a doctor’s appointment, run to the store, take a break or get some rest. Volunteers may also prepare an evening meal, do light cleaning or run errands. Often, their most important role is simply to sit at the bedside as a quiet, comforting presence. Volunteers also provide clerical support in the hospice office and may help with bereavement services for family members after the death of their loved one.

Additional opportunities are available for hospice volunteers to participle in patient and family services unique to Marshfield Medical Center-Rice Lake, including our “Life is a Celebration” dinner parties, Tuck In services, 11th Hour program and “PAWS with Heart” dog program.

Training is provided free of charge.

If you are interested in becoming a hospice volunteer, please contact Tammy Koger, volunteer services manager, at (715) 236-6255.

Become a volunteer partner

As a volunteer partner, you’ll support patients and visitors who could use a smile, a reassuring word or a helping hand. Volunteer partners include retirees, students, professionals and homemakers.

Your time commitment is up to you. Many volunteers serve once or twice a week for four-hour shifts, though some give more and others less.

Volunteer opportunities are available in many hospital departments, with a wide range of duties and shift times. We’ll work to place you in a role that fits your lifestyle and interests.

To join our Volunteer Partner Program, contact Tammy Koger, volunteer services manager, at (715) 236-6255.
