What is endoscopic oncology
Endoscopic oncology uses small, flexible tools with cameras to diagnose and treat cancers of the:
- Esophagus
- Stomach
- Pancreas
- Bile ducts
- GI tract
These procedures help diagnose cancer, ease symptoms or deliver targeted treatment.
Endoscopic oncology services
- Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS): Uses high frequency sound waves to evaluate esophageal, gastric, pancreatic and bile duct cancers and guide treatment planning
- Fiducial marker placement: Places tiny markers that help radiation oncologists precisely target tumors
- Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP): Diagnoses and treats diseases of the bile ducts and pancreas, often used to place stents and relieve obstructions
- SpyGlass™ cholangioscopy: Provides direct visualization of bile and pancreatic ducts for accurate diagnosis
- Endoscopic suturing: Closes surgical defects or anchors stents without open surgery
- Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD): Removes early-stage GI cancers with minimally invasive microsurgery
- Enteral stenting: Opens blocked areas of the GI tract to relieve symptoms
- Fluid drainage procedures: Manages complications from cancer surgery or inflammation
